PhD grant| Project InPactus
The University of Aveiro opens a call for one PhD grant in the framework of a partnership with The Navigator Company, RAIZ- Institute of Forest and Paper Research and the project InPaCTus.

Scientific area: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and related areas.

Work plan: This work plan objective is to study the application of various sorbent materials for the removal of phosphorus-based compounds, from effluents from the kraftpulp production process, and to present a solution involving minimum doses of chemicals, reduced sludge formation, rapid removal kinetics and minimal introduction of elements extraneous to the process.

Admission requirements: The candidate must:

a)       Hold a Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related areas, with an average grade equal or superior to 14 values;

b)      Have experience in sorption processes and results mathematical modeling knowledge;

c)       Have experience of sample characterization and preparation of different matrices, to be further analyzed by several instrumental techniques;

d)      Have experience in instrumental techniques, with special relevance to plasma atomization techniques (ICP);

e)      Have experience in the preparation result interpretation reports.


Working place: The work will be carried out at the University of Aveiro, RAIZ and PCI- Science and Innovation Park and in the Doctoral program teaching place.

Grant duration: 12 months (and may be renewed successively), with starting planned for October 2018 .

Grant financial conditions: The value of the grant is 980 €, in agreement with the “Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação Científica da Universidade de Aveiro – Regulamento n.º 341/2011, publicado em Diário da República, 2ª série, n.º 98, de 20 de Maio”. The fellowship will be paid monthly by check, bank transfer, or another equivalent method.

Selection method: CV analysis (70%) relevant experience for the proposed workplan (30%). To clarify specific aspects the 3 first candidates might be called for a personal interview. In that case the previous classification will account for 70 %, and the interview for 30%.
