Job summary: to investigate liquid-liquid systems composed of ionic liquids for the selective extraction (purification) of immunoglobulin Y (IgY) from egg yolk, i.e., to selectively separate the water soluble IgY from the yolk lipoproteins and other impurities. The research proposal comprises the determination of liquid-liquid phase diagrams, partition studies of IgY and contaminant proteins, and the evaluation of their stability after the extraction step.
