New ranking published this week evaluates five national universities from among more than 450 in the world
UA first in Portugal in three sustainability criteria
UA está em segundo ligar nacional no ranking do Times Higher Education
The University of Aveiro (UA) is the best institution of Portuguese higher education in three of 11 sustainability criteria set by the UN, according to the evaluation of the new Times Higher Education (THE) ranking: University Impact Ranking.

In this evaluation methodology, to which more than 450 higher education institutions from around the world answered, 11 of the 17 sustainable development objectives of the UN are evaluated.

In the overall classification, UA is in position 101-200, corresponding to second place nationally, behind the University of Minho (position 83). According to the established methodology, the institutions were not required to meet all 11 criteria. Only five Portuguese institutions responded to this call: UA, Minho, Beira Interior, ISCTE, and Nova de Lisboa.

The best ranking of UA was achieved in the criteria "decent work and economic growth", “responsible consumption and production" and “climate action”. The first topic had responses from 291 institutions, the second from 226 and, in relation to the third, 257 responses were considered.

This is a further ranking of THE, in addition to the already known World University Ranking and Europe Teaching Ranking, the latter having emerged last year.
