Applications are open for the allocation of one MSc research fellowship
Applications are open for the allocation of one MSc research fellowship, under the project “IgY Technology: A Purification Platform using Ionic-Liquid-Based Aqueous Biphasic Systems (IgYPurTech), from an European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant, Grant agreement no.: 337753, at the Chemistry Department, CICECO (Aveiro Institute of Materials) in University of Aveiro.

Job summary: to investigate the solubility of bio-based compounds in aqueous solutions of ionic liquids.

 

Scientific field:  Chemical Engineering

 

Requirements: (i) Degree (Licenciatura) and/or MSc in Chemical Engineering; (ii) Confirmed experience in ionic liquids and natural (from biomass) compounds.

 

 

Regulation: The fellowship is in accordance with Law Nº. 40/2004, 18th  August  (Research Fellow Statute) and the Regulation of Scientific Research Grants from the University of Aveiro – Regulation n.º 341/2011, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, n.º 98, 20th May.

 

Place of work and Scientific Orientation: The work will be carried out at the Chemistry Department, CICECO, University of Aveiro, Portugal. All research activities will be supervised by Dr. Mara G. Freire.

 

Duration of Activity: The fellowship is scheduled to start in October 2018 and to finish in January 31st 2019.

 

 

Components of the Fellowship: The value of the scholarship follows the Tables announced by FCT: 980 € per month (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The periodicity of the fellowship's payment is monthly and via bank transfer.

 

Criteria for evaluation of the candidates: Applications will be screened on the basis of a maximum of 10 points: (i) Classification of the MSc degree held by the applicant (30%); (ii) Scientific Curriculum Vitae (40%); (iii) Experience in ionic liquids and natural (from biomass) compounds (30%); (iii) If the jury considers indispensable, interviews with the 3 best candidates may be held (with the previous criteria corresponding to 70% and the interview to 30%).

 

Jury:  The panel responsible for selection will be composed of the following members: Mara G. Freire, Ana Paula M. Tavares and Sónia P. M. Ventura.

 

Notification of results: The final evaluation results will be publicized through the ordered list by the final grade obtained, posted in a conspicuous and public place in CICECO and the candidate approved will be notified by email.

 

Opening date and deadline for applications: Applications must be submitted from 1st of October till the 15th of October 2018.

 

Documents of application: The application must contain the following documents: (i) Motivation letter highlighting the interest on the project (including full contacts of the applicant); (ii) Detailed Curriculum Vitae; (iv) Copies of certificates or documents confirming the academic degrees/classifications; and (iv) Copies of published scientific manuscripts or other scientific documents.
