Research Scholarships
The University of Aveiro, through IEETA research unit (www.ieeta.pt), invites applications for a research scholarship, in the area of Digital Signal Processing and Radar. (REF. 8/18). Candidates must hold a MSc in Electrical Engineering, or related area, with relevant background in Digital Signal Processing

The project  RETIOT, “Reflectometry Technologies to Enhance the Future Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems, with reference POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016432, funded by Fundo Europeu de Desenvolvimento Regional – FEDER and FCT, I.P., intends to develop technology that integrates communication and reflectometry functionalities.

The goal of these scholarship is:

Digital Signal Processing techniques for Radar – to develop digital signal processing algorithms for robot navigation and obstacle detection with radar.

This scholarship is for 6 months (renewable up to 12 months). The net scholarship value is 980 euros per month, paid by cheque or bank transfer. Candidates must hold a MSc in Electrical Engineering, or related area, with relevant background in Digital Signal Processing. Applications should include the following items:

a)     Detailed Curriculum Vitae;

b)     Copy of an identification document;

c)     Copies of certificates of academic qualifications;

The academic and professional profile(s) of the applicant(s) will be considered on an individual basis regarding their suitability to the position. The evaluation criteria to be used will be the following:

  • Final mark in the BSc+MSc weights 40%.
  • Quality of the CV and its suitability to this project weights 40%.
  • Interview 20%.

The applicants will be called in for interviews for the evaluation of the second criteria. The University of Aveiro will be free to select the candidates to fill the positions and reserves the right not to do so regardless of the results achieved in this call. The board for evaluation and ranking of applications will be composed of Dr. José Manuel Neto Vieira, Drª. Ana Maria Perfeito Tomé and Dr. Francisco Curado Teixeira.

This scholarship is granted according to the Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação Científica da Universidade de Aveiro – Regulamento n.º 341/2011, published in Diário da República, 2ª série, n.º 98, May 20, 2011, and the Estatuto de Bolseiro de Investigação Científica, Law n.º 40/2004, August 18, 2004.
