POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS- REF. 7/17
The University of Aveiro, through IEETA research unit (www.ieeta.pt), invites applications for one postdoctoral scholarships in Computer Science.
Heart failure (HF) is a syndrome of impaired cardiac function leading to symptoms of effort intolerance and congestion that afflicts close to 15 million people in Europe and is currently the main cause of hospitalization and disability amongst the elderly. It constitutes a leading cause of mortality, morbidity and health care resource consumption. Diastolic HF, or preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), accounts for a rising proportion of over 50% of HF cases.
NETDIAMOND joins a network of national centres of reference with complementary expertizes to address this novel and highly relevant issue: the development of evidence-based therapeutic strategies directed at heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The goals of this scholarships are (1) the construction of a systems biology view of HFpEF and the role of comorbidities; (2) identification of main pathways and elements in HFpEF and their disturbances with comorbidities; (3) clinical correlation of molecular findings (diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers).
The scholarships are for 12 months (renewable up to 30 months).
The net scholarship value is 1495 euros per month, paid by cheque or bank transfer.
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Computer Science and relevant research experience in the following areas: bioinformatics and data mining.
