UA’s Vice-rector José Fernando Mendes has just been elected as a member of the executive committee of the Complex Systems Society (CSS). The researcher of the Department of Physics of the University of Aveiro is thus at the forefront of one of the more important scientific world organisations dedicated to the promotion and development of complex systems.

“Although a young society due to the fact that this scientific area only recently gained international impact, CSS has a very important role in the organisation and promotion of the organisation itself on the various subjects it approaches and with multiple application in different areas of knowledge, such as Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Communication Sciences, Social Sciences, among others”, explains José Fernando Mendes.

From a personal point of view, he says, “I feel honoured to have been chosen to fulfil this role at the executive committee and I hope to be able to contribute to its enrichment. I understand this choice as recognition for the work I have been carrying out with my team at the UA, institution that has always offered conditions to compete at international level”.
