Rui Aguiar appointed “Distinguished Lecturer” of the IEEE

Recently appointed Chair of Networld2020 European Technology Platform (ETP), Rui Aguiar has now been also appointed Distinguished Lecturer of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Professor of the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the University of Aveiro (DETI-UA) and researcher at the Telecommunications Institute (IT-Aveiro), Rui Aguiar is the third academic of the UA to be honoured by IEEE as “distinguished lecturer”.

Forecasts of air quality take into account desert dust spread

A forecasting module for desert dust spread, from North Africa, in national territory was recently integrated in the system of air quality forecast developed within the framework of a partnership between the Portuguese Environment Agency and the University of Aveiro (UA). This way, it is possible to do and integrate a forecast of these natural events, so frequent in Portugal, enabling warnings to be made to the population and avoiding health problems.
